Aaron Glenn may have made it through a horrid first season that saw the New York Jets finish with a 3-14 record. Now he’ll undoubtedly enter 2026 on the hot seat in New York.

Glenn, a defensive-minded coach, oversaw a defense that allowed the NFL’s second-most points in 2025. While finding a franchise quarterback could take time, Glenn needs to come back with a much-improved defense. Yet, one of the coaches Glenn hired may have created a path for an All-Pro to follow him to New York.

One thing the recent Jermaine Johnson for T’Vondre Sweat trade accomplished was clearing up $11.8 million in cap space. ESPN’s Rich Cimini suggested New York could use some of that money to trade for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins, and the recent hire of Brian Duker could help.

“One name to watch is Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who reportedly is available for trade,” Cimini wrote. “New Jets defensive coordinator Brian Duker was the Dolphins’ passing-game coordinator, so he’s familiar with Fitzpatrick.”

Fitzpatrick, 30, is entering the final year of his contract in Miami and has a cap hit of $18.8 million in 2026. With Miami already releasing Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb, there’s been talk of Fitzpatrick being the next one to go, but the Dolphins are trying to find a trade partner for him first.

Whether the Dolphins would be willing to negotiate a trade that sends a three-time All-Pro defender to a division rival remains to be seen.
