Who will be the New York Jets’ starting quarterback in 2025? We may be getting closer to learning the answer.
We know it won’t be Aaron Rodgers due to reports that the Jets are planning to release the four-time NFL MVP. Tyrod Taylor is still on the roster, but he’s no longer viewed as a starting-caliber solution, not for a full season, anyway.
So, if the Jets want to find a long-term QB solution, they may have to find one in the 2025 NFL Draft, and it may not happen with the seventh overall pick in the first round.

New York Jets’ Rick Spielman is a big fan of Jaxson Dart

The New York Jets only have two quarterbacks on the roster who are set to return in 2025: Tyrod Taylor and 2024 fifth-round pick Jordan Travis. They’ll undoubtedly add one or possibly two quarterbacks this offseason, and one is likely to be added through the 2025 NFL Draft.
Recently, the Jets hired Rick Spielman in a senior football adviser role after he helped them in their head coaching and general manager search. Yet, now that Spielman has landed back inside an NFL organization, some are placing a higher weight on his Senior Bowl comments on the CBS Sports With the First Pick podcast about University of Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart.
“I like Jaxson Dart a lot — better and better and better. It just looks like the position comes natural to him. “I’m going to say this. I don’t know if there’s another first-round quarterback after the first two, but the way Bo Nix started to surge last year coming out of this game, I would not be surprised if [Dart] ends up in the first round.”

Spielman also said that he “came away impressed” with Dart’s “arm talent” while praising him for having the “smoothest, quickest” release of all quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl.
Of course, Spielman doesn’t have any final say over who the Jets should draft, but his input could be viewed as valuable during the evaluation process.
