The New York Giants have made four selections in the top ten of the NFL draft order over the past four years. Boasting the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Giants are ready to add to that total. Before the Giants add another highly-touted prospect, general manager Joe Schoen could be preparing to trade one of his recent picks.
Recently, SNY’s Connor Hughes reported that NFL teams are operating with the belief that Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux is available via trade.
“A name to keep an eye on, Kayvon Thibodeaux. Kayvon might be the one that is a little bit more expendable. At least somebody that the Giants are willing to listen to offers on. Teams that I’ve talked to around the NFL combine believe that he’s available for the right price. “

This shouldn’t come as a big surprise to Giants fans, as Thibodeaux has been linked to trade rumors from the moment Abdul Carter was selected third in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old is headed into the final year of his rookie contract.
Yet, after an 11.5-sack season in 2023, plenty of teams will be curious to see if they can get Thibodeaux to consistently produce at a high level. He’s recorded a combined eight sacks in the past 22 games.
With the Giants committing to Brian Burns and Carter, they don’t quite have a need for another high-profile pass-rusher like Thibodeaux could be. Other teams would surely give him a chance to compete for a starting role. That opportunity isn’t currently available in New York.
The Giants have seven selections in the upcoming draft, but with only selections No. 5 and 37, they’ll be adding just two prospects in the top 100 picks. A Thibodeaux trade could help add another valued contributor to the Giants’ draft class.
