The New York Giants are one of eight NFL teams hunting for their next head coach. More teams could be on the way, but barring another change, all the best candidates are already available. This means the Giants, after a series of interviews, could quickly identify who they want to be their next head coach.

One candidate may already stand out based on his overall track record.

Specifically, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero believes the Giants, along with the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, and Tennessee Titans, are top suitors to hire former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

“The Giants have been recruiting Harbaugh hard since the Ravens fired him on Tuesday,” Pelissero said. “The Falcons are the only team that does not have a GM in place, which could allow Harbaugh to bring his preferred guy. The Dolphins have interest, although they already hired a GM who has no ties to John Harbaugh. And don’t count out the Titans who have a lot of resources and a dynamic young quarterback in Cam Ward to sell to potential candidates. Expect decisions on Monday about where he visits first.”

Harbaugh has yet to take any interviews, but as Pelissero notes, he could have them lined up by Monday. The Giants have been putting a strong effort into hiring Harbaugh, but since he’s the NFL’s top coaching candidate, it’s up to Harbaugh to decide where he wants to coach next.

Needless to say, he’s the most proven candidate available, as head coaches with a Super Bowl win don’t become available often.
