Now that John Harbaugh is officially the New York Giants‘ head coach, he, along with general manager Joe Schoen and the rest of the front office, can begin their preparations for building a winning team.

New York will certainly be active in free agency, and they’re poised to take one of the best college prospects with the fifth overall pick. But they also have decisions to make about their own free agents.

The team has several key free agents, but the most noticeable ones are Jermaine Eluemunor, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Cor’Dale Flott. Then there are free agents such as Micah McFadden and Gunner Olszewski, who have significant roles in the past, but there’s uncertainty if they’ll return.

NFL free agency doesn’t start until March 11th, but we’ll take a look at all five players and the likelihood they’ll re-sign with the Giants.

In his second season with Big Blue, the 31-year-old right tackle played 1,088 snaps according to Pro Football Focus and allowed just four sacks, which earned him a pass blocking grade of 76.7. For the first time in years, the offensive line showed signs of improvement, and Eluemunor was a big reason why.

The reasons why he may not return to New York are that other teams will be interested in the right tackle, and if the team feels fifth-round pick Marcus Mbow could step in and be the starter next season. One factor that bodes well for his return is the arrival of John Harbaugh. Harbaugh was in Baltimore when the Ravens drafted Eluemunor with the 159th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The 63-year-old coach might make it a priority to keep the right tackle to help keep Jaxson Dart upright.

Likelihood he’ll return (very likely)

With the strides the offensive line made this season, the Giants don’t want to disrupt that. In addition, Eluemunor seems to enjoy being a Giant, so unless a team outbids New York, he’ll be back next season.

After Malik Nabers tore his ACL in Week 4, Wan’Dale Robinson was the only dependable receiver the team had. He had 92 receptions and had a career-high 1,014 receiving yards and a career-high four touchdowns.

He’s established himself as one of the best slot receivers in the league and will be sought after by several teams in free agency. It’s expected that the 25-year-old slot receiver will be seeking a four-year deal that will pay him anywhere from $14-17 million annually. That price tag might be too high for New York, especially when they’re expected to possibly take a receiver early in the draft.

Likelihood he’ll return (unlikely)

Unless Robinson gives New York a hometown discount, it’s unlikely he’ll return because he’ll be able to get a more lucrative contract elsewhere.

After starting 23 out of the 39 games he appeared in his first three seasons, Flott started all 14 games he appeared in this season and played a total of 798 snaps. He was credited with a career-high 11 pass defenses and had a key interception in the team’s 34-17 Week 6 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Flott has steadily developed in his four years with New York and had an overall PFF grade of 66.9, which ranked 41st out of 114 cornerbacks. He’ll turn 25 in August, and it seems as if he’s just starting to peak.

Likelihood he’ll return (almost a guarantee)

With the team possibly looking to part ways with Deonte Banks this offseason, this enhances the chances of the team re-signing Flott. Flott is talented but won’t garner as much attention across the league as Eluemunor or Robinson. Unless whoever the team’s defensive coordinator will be in 2026 doesn’t see Flott as a good fit, Flott will remain with Big Blue.

Micah McFadden

McFadden had back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons in 2023 and 2024, and his 107 tackles in 2024 also led the team. It was expected that he would have his third 100-tackle season in 2025. But a Lisfranc injury that he suffered in Week 1 abruptly ended his season.

Now the 26-year-old linebacker has a cloud hovering over him as he’s coming off a major injury, and the Giants have a new regime. Linebacker is one of the positions that the team needs to upgrade, so it doesn’t seem that bringing back McFadden will be a priority.

Likelihood he’ll return (unlikely)

As we mentioned, New York will look to upgrade at linebacker, so unless McFadden is willing to stay as a backup, he’s probably played his last game as a Giant.

Gunner Olszewski

From his time as a special teams coordinator with the Eagles, Harbaugh will have a keen interest in the team’s special teams unit and returner Gunner Olszewski. Olszewski returned 24 punts for 216 yards and returned 26 kickoffs for 682 yards in 2025.

But he also showed he could contribute as a slot receiver in the season finale against the Dallas Cowboys when he caught eight passes for 102 yards. Being able to contribute in two phases of the game enhances his chances of returning.

Likelihood he’ll return (probably)

New York won’t have to make a huge investment to bring back the 29-year-old specialist, so you can expect him to be offered a short-term contract.
