John Harbaugh has gladly taken over as the next head coach of the New York Giants. He’s been busy filling out the coaching staff ever since, and he’s even added a pair of former NFL head coaches in Matt Nagy and Brian Callahan.

While the coaching staff will likely still have a few additions and possible subtractions over the next few months, the Giants will soon need to shift their attention to building up their roster too. They could prioritize players who help their 2024 first-round pick, Jaxson Dart, reach his max potential.

Recently, Sports Illustrated‘s Albert Breer suggested the Giants as a potential landing spot for upcoming free agent tight end Kyle Pitts. The Pro Bowl tight end was selected fourth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2021 NFL Draft.

“Kyle Pitts had a terrific, breakout season—going for 928 yards and five scores on 88 catches—that very few people saw coming. There will be teams after him. He could be a nice replacement for Travis Kelce in Kansas City if the veteran tight end retires. The Giants could bring him in as a gift to Jaxson Dart, and that Kelce role would exist for him in Matt Nagy’s offense. The Buccaneers could be an interesting destination as well, with ex-Atlanta OC Zac Robinson now there. And if Pitts gets too pricey, then, sure, David Njoku would be an option.”

But he’s coming off his best season since his rookie year. Pitts, 25, recorded 88 receptions for 928 yards and five touchdowns while making 17 starts this season. He even earned second-team All-Pro honors in the process.

Of course, several teams will have interest in the field-stretching tight end this offseason. The Giants could very well be one of them. Though, they could prefer to stick with 2024 fourth-round pick Theo Johnson, who ranked third on the team with 528 receiving yards in 2025. Still, there’s no denying that the speedy Pitts would add another threat to the Giants’ offense, and he’s one they could use.
