Deciding against making a head coaching change for the second season in a row, the New Orleans Saints have largely flown under the radar at the start of the offseason. After first-year head coach Kellen Moore led the Saints to a respectable 6-11 record, now it’s time to upgrade the roster as the team moves forward with Tyler Shough as their franchise quarterback.

Yet, sometimes teams are forced to take a step backward before they can make progress. Even if it means saying goodbye to a franchise icon.

Recently, future Hall of Fame defensive lineman Cam Jordan addressed his upcoming free agency with TMZ Sports. While doing so, Jordan acknowledged the possibility that he could be joining a different team for the first time in his 15-year NFL career.

However, the book is not closed on returning to the Saints either. Jordan says there “could be a bright future” with Shough as the QB in New Orleans. He also says that after a 10.5 sack season, the 36-year-old is not looking for “top dollar.” He simply wants “to be valued” with his next contract.

“If you get a 10-sack season, if I was 26, I’d be asking for top dollar,” Jordan said. “Things I’ve never asked for is top dollar. All I’ve ever asked for is to be valued.”

The question is, will it come for a Saints team that could be close, but hasn’t made a playoff appearance since 2020?
