Leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft, there have been a lot of Minnesota Vikings trade rumors. Some involve a trade up from the 17th overall pick in the first round to land a top-tier talent.
Others involve a trade down to add to the nine draft selections the Vikings already have. The idea there is that there isn’t a big difference between a player set to be drafted in the middle of the first round and a player who may be selected on Day 2.
Meanwhile, other Vikings rumors suggest they’re thinking about trading away one of their best players. Now, there’s been a new report suggesting the Vikings are ready to pull the trigger.
According to the Guardian’s Ollie Connolly, the Vikings and Eagles have already agreed to a trade that sends Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Greenard to Philadelphia in exchange for a Day 2 draft pick.
“You’re saying the (Eagles) are getting Jonathan Greenard, huh? Is this breaking news or is this out there?”
“I assume it’s out there, right?”
“I don’t think so, Ollie.”
“Ok, Uh-oh… I think the edge need will be solved on the second or third day of the draft, both through a trade…”
Of course, we won’t know whether this is actually true until Day 2 or possibly Day 3 as Connolly suggests. Yet, we have a hard time believing that the Vikings would trade Greenard for a fourth-round pick or anything lower. In other words, if this trade is going down, expect it to happen on Friday.
Greenard has been internally vocal about wanting a new contract or a raise over his 2026 salary. Yet, the Vikings have been hesitant to do so after he made it through just 10 games and recorded three sacks. Sitting with a $22 million cap hit for 2026, it’s possible the Vikings are ready to make a deal.
