Last offseason, the Minnesota Vikings were linked to several quarterbacks. They presented a short-term contract to re-sign Pro Bowl QB Sam Darnold. He understandably chose more long-term security with the Seattle Seahawks, and now they’re playing in Super Bowl LX.

The Vikings also made an offer to re-sign Daniel Jones. Again, he opted for a better opportunity to land a starting role with the Indianapolis Colts. The Vikings were also linked, but apparently didn’t make an offer to 10-time Pro Bowl QB Aaron Rodgers, who led the Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs. But those weren’t the only notable QBs the Vikings were associated with.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Vikings also registered some interest in former Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco last offseason.

“The Vikings considered signing Flacco last offseason,” Fowler wrote.

Flacco signed with the Cleveland Browns instead, leading them to a 1-3 record before being traded to the Cincinnati Bengals after Joe Burrow‘s injury. Flacco then led the Bengals, who had the NFL’s 30th-ranked scoring defense, to a 1-5 record.

He’d complete 60.3% of his passes for 2,479 yards, 15 TDs, and 10 interceptions this season. He’s played for six different NFL teams since becoming the 18th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft., and he could be set to join his seventh organization this offseason.

While the Vikings considered adding Flacco last year, we’d imagine nothing has changed heading into the 2026 offseason. Meaning, Flacco could be in the mix to compete with McCarthy in Minnesota next season.
