For Green Bay Packers fans hoping that super athlete Micah Parsons might make a superhuman return from the ACL tear he suffered in December, a new report offers disappointing news.
When the Packers made the blockbuster trade for the Dallas Cowboys star just before the 2025 NFL season, the five-time Pro Bowler was viewed as the missing piece to a Super Bowl team. However, when he blew his knee out in mid-December, the 9-3-1 Packers unsurprisingly went into a tailspin and lost five straight — including a Wild Card playoff game against division rivals the Chicago Bears — to end the season.
It’s why Packers fans are hoping the three-time All-Pro can prove that he is a freak athlete, return from his ACL tear faster than expected, and be on the field early in the 2026 season. Well, an update on his recovery offers up some disappointing news for Green Bay fans.
Micah Parsons won’t make a quicker-than-expected return from ACL tear

“Five months into his ACL rehab, Micah Parsons said he has four more months to go, saying that they have a strict nine-month rule especially for players who had more than just the ACL tear, revealing that he also had a meniscus procedure,” ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky revealed in an X post.
That means Parsons isn’t expected back until mid-October. So getting back on the field for their Week 6 game against his old team, the Cowboys, on Oct. 18, or Week 7 against the division rivals, the Detroit Lions, on Oct. 25 is the likely return timeline for the superstar pass rusher.
After completing the trade that brought him from Dallas, Parsons signed a new four-year, $186 million deal that runs through 2029. So it looks like Parsons and the Packers are thinking big picture and want to make sure he gets all the recovery time needed to maximize his value over the life of the massive extension they gave him.
It is the smart move, but it still means he will likely miss at least the first five games of the 2026 Green Bay Packers schedule.
