If there’s one thing football fans have learned about Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead, it’s that he’s not afraid to make a big move. The latest evidence came on the first night of the 2026 NFL Draft, when the Rams surprised everyone by taking Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick in the first round.
Simpson was projected to be a Day 2 draft pick, but as they say, all it takes is one team to believe in his abilities. This year, that was the Rams.
While the decision to draft Simpson was clearly a move for the future, some believe the Rams may be eyeing a trade that could strengthen their status as Super Bowl contenders this season.
Specifically, The Athletic‘s Rams insider Nate Atkins suggests that fans should “keep an eye on Maxx Crosby.”
“I’d also keep an eye on Maxx Crosby,” Atkins wrote. “He seems to have mended things with the Las Vegas Raiders after the trade to the Baltimore Ravens was reversed, but the organization’s approach could change if the Raiders hit another tough start to a season.”
Of course, the Las Vegas Raiders already agreed to trade him once. Could they do so again? It certainly can’t be ruled out, especially if first-year head coach Klint Kubiak gets off to a rough start.
While the idea of adding a five-time Pro Bowl sack artist is exciting, Atkins believes any trade discussions likely wouldn’t ramp up until October. That’s when everyone will have a greater understanding of their direction.
