New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart addressed his teammates during a team meeting this week, clearing the air over his recent introduction of President Trump at a political rally.

The second-year QB, a 2025 first-round pick, appeared at a May 22 event in Suffern, New York, supporting Representative Mike Lawler.

There, Dart delivered a brief speech, led the crowd in a “Go Big Blue” chant, and shook hands with Trump, who praised the young quarterback as a “future Hall of Famer.”

Locker Room Reaction and External Criticism

The appearance sparked immediate backlash within the locker room. Well, with one person in the locker room, anyway. Linebacker Abdul Carter, entering his second season with the team, publicly questioned the move on social media before later confirming the two had spoken privately.

Then there was former NFL player Emmanuel Acho, who amped up the outrage to 11 by saying Dart’s actions were “pretty stupid” because he allegedly “offended” his teammates.

Dart, though, seems to have shrugged off the media-generated nonsense. As has the team.

Maturity on Display as Giants Move Forward

During Wednesday’s OTAs, Dart and veteran leaders, including Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Jameis Winston, addressed the team. People in the know described the gathering as productive and said players were “working through” the drama and committing to move forward. No looking back.

“[Giants] QB Jaxson Dart addressed teammates in a meeting yesterday to discuss his introduction of President Trump last week, sources tell me and [Ian Rapoport],” NFL Networks’ Mike Garafolo reported on X.

“Other team leaders spoke up as well, and Dart and the players worked through it,” he added. “They are moving forward.”

There really wasn’t that much to move forward on. Dart introduced the leader of the free world. Not earth-shattering stuff here, folks.

Still, Dart demonstrated some signs of maturity by calling a team meeting to address the controversy surrounding his appearance with Trump. He wasn’t about to let tensions fester or avoid the issue.

He listened to his teammates’ concerns, engaged in dialogue with veteran leaders, and helped lead the conversation toward unity. That’s what a leader well beyond his years does. The Giants might very well have a bright future with this kid.
