Things are looking up if you’re a fan of the Las Vegas Raiders. New head coach Klint Kubiak is coming off a Super Bowl win as an offensive coordinator/playcaller. Now he’ll take over the Raiders, where he’ll still be calling plays. But now everyone wants to know if the Maxx Crosby trade rumors are legitimate.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the meeting Kubiak had with Crosby was a “positive” one. However, that doesn’t mean things are peachy in Vegas between the Raiders and their second-team All-Pro pass-rusher. Crosby is now weighing a decision of whether he wants to request a trade, but the Raiders still have a chance to salvage this.
“My understanding is that conversation with Klint Kubiak was positive. But there are a lot of other fences that would need to be mended for Crosby to stay in Las Vegas. It is not an impossibility that Crosby is back with the Raiders. It is certainly a possibility that he is not. There are multiple voices here, including Maxx and Klint Kubiak, all the way up to Mark Davis, who are going to be a part of this decision.”
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Maxx Crosby
We can’t blame Crosby, who’s easily one of the NFL’s best defenders, for wanting to be a part of a winner. He’s played in one postseason game since he arrived as a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, yet he’s made five Pro Bowl teams in that span.
In other words, Crosby is far from the reason why the Raiders have been so bad. Now he may want to be part of why a team is so good, and possibly even compete for a Super Bowl ring.
There’s no telling how long that may take with the new-look Raiders, but Crosby may feel like he’s been waiting this one out long enough. If so, several teams will be in a rush to present their best blockbuster trade offer for the sack master.
