Kyle Van Noy is a free agent at a position of need for the New England Patriots. Van Noy has spent the last two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, playing at a high level. However, the Patriots were the franchise that Van Noy thrived with to win two Super Bowls in 2017 and 2019. So, could there be a fit between Van Noy and New England again?
Van Noy joined NFL Network on Tuesday morning and talked about his free agency. The 34-year-old linebacker was asked about a potential return to the Patriots, and expressed a big desire to go back to New England.
“That would be a blessing come true,” Van Noy said on NFL Network. “That would be a dream come true to go home…[New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel], what’s up, man?”
Van Noy had 12.5 sacks for Baltimore during the 2024-25 NFL season, but he regressed as a pass rusher last year. The Ravens linebacker only earned two sacks and one interception over 15 games. It was the fewest sacks that Van Noy had over a season since he was traded to the Patriots in 2016.
As of now, New England has Dre’Mont Jones, Robert Spillane, and Christian Ellis at linebacker, but it has been linked to others at the position. Van Noy would be more of a depth option rather than a big addition at linebacker. Maybe, a return to New England would revitalize the 34-year-old linebacker after a tough season.
The 2026-27 season will likely be Van Noy’s last in the NFL, as he said on NFL Network. It would be fitting if Van Noy’s final year was in New England, pushing for a third and final Super Bowl victory.
