Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has been busy trying to upgrade a roster that had to watch the playoffs from home for the first time since 2014. He’s focused in particular on overhauling a cornerback group that was once led by Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson.
Both are now set to play for different teams, at much higher rates than the Chiefs were paying them. In the process, Kansas City has replaced them with No. 8 overall pick Mansoor Delane, free agent signing Kader Kohou, and holdover Nohl Williams. Now, another piece has been added to the puzzle.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Chiefs have signed cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to a one-year contract. ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds that Sneed has the ability to make as much as $5 million with the Chiefs in 2026.
That’s a far cry from the contract Sneed signed with Tennessee when the Chiefs traded him in 2024. Back then, the Titans signed Sneed to a four-year, $76 million contract. But he only played 12 games across two seasons in Tennessee, which prompted his release from the team this offseason.
Sneed recorded 10 interceptions across four seasons in Kansas City, helping them win two Super Bowls as a starting cornerback. Now he gets to return to where it all began, and the 29-year-old hopes to pick up right where he left off, only he’ll have to work his way back into the starting lineup, all over again.
