The Kansas City Chiefs WAG squad just added a new rookie to the roster. George Karlaftis officially put a ring on it, marrying his high school sweetheart, Kaia Harris, on Saturday, May 9, at the luxe One&Only Aesthesis.

The couple said “I do” in a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony, paying tribute to Karlaftis’ roots. The two-time Super Bowl champ spent his early years in Athens before moving stateside at 13, making the wedding a full-circle moment straight out of a championship playbook.

PEOPLE dropped a full wedding-day photo dump on Instagram, giving fans an inside look at George Karlaftis and Kaia Harris’ big day, complete with the caption: “NFL player George Karlaftis is married!”

And while Karlaftis is known for bringing pressure on the field, the Chiefs star admitted he nearly folded emotionally at the altar. “I think my favorite part was the ceremony because I got really emotional, more than I expected to,” he told PEOPLE. “I didn’t expect to cry as much as I did during the ceremony. I was borderline bawling when I saw Kaia and her dad walk down the aisle.”

The wedding turned into a full-on Chiefs reunion, with 220 guests in attendance, including current and former teammates, coaches from both Purdue and Kansas City. Plus the couple’s longtime MVP pup, 8-year-old Ralph.

Even the NFL’s most talked-about power couple made the guest list. Reports claimed Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were on the dance floor all night celebrating their teammate’s big win off the field.

Karlaftis and Harris’ love story started long before the NFL lights. The two first crossed paths as teammates on their high school track team in West Lafayette, Indiana. Bonding over their shared work ethic, trust, and loyalty. Both later attended Purdue University before Karlaftis called the ultimate audible in April 2025, proposing while the pair were casually watching TV in bed.

As for what’s next after saying “I do”? The newlyweds are looking forward to building their own dynasty. Saying they’re most excited about “starting a family” and “building a life together.”

Harris, a former discus throw competitor turned marketing professional, has been by Karlaftis’ side since they went public with their relationship in 2021. Five years before officially tying the knot.

After the confetti settled, the newlyweds kept the celebration rolling with a honeymoon stay in the coastal Greek town of Porto Cheli.
