Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert returned to the club’s organized team activities (OTAs) on Wednesday after missing Phase 2 of the offseason program to support his girlfriend, singer Madison Beer.

Beer was on the early leg of her Locket Tour in Europe.

Herbert joined his singer girlfriend as she kicked off the tour in Poland and traveled with her for roughly two weeks.

During a recent VIP soundcheck in Amsterdam, Beer was interrupted by what can only be described as an adorable FaceTime call from Herbert. In front of fans, she smiled widely and actually answered the call.

“It’s okay! I love you. I’ll see you in a few minutes,” the Make You Mine singer can be heard saying.

The wholesome moment drew “awws” from the audience and quickly went viral on social media.

Harbaugh’s Supportive Reaction Steals the Show

Perhaps an even more wholesome moment was head coach Jim Harbaugh‘s reaction to his starting QB going on tour with his girlfriend.

Harbaugh expressed full support for Herbert’s decision to prioritize the trip. When Herbert informed him he would miss the voluntary workouts, Harbaugh’s immediate reaction was gold.

“Do you need a ride to the airport?” the coach joked.

If there were any questions about Herbert’s dedication and focus, Harbaugh quickly squashed them, noting his signal-caller is a true professional.

“There’s times I’ve wanted to shoo him out of the building,” Harbaugh said.

Herbert looked sharp upon his return to practice, participating fully as the Chargers prepare for the upcoming season.

He has established himself as one of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks since being drafted sixth overall in 2020. The former Oregon Duck earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors after throwing for a rookie-record 31 touchdowns and has earned two Pro Bowl selections in his young career.

Last season, the Chargers posted an 11-6 record and clinched a second consecutive playoff berth, finishing second in the AFC West.

They fell short in the Wild Card round, but Herbert delivered another strong campaign with 3,727 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and a career-high 498 rushing yards despite playing through offensive line injuries. Some analysts are projecting them as playoff contenders again and potential dark horses to challenge for the AFC West crown.
