For Green Bay Packers fans hoping their team might trade for Arizona Cardinals star Josh Sweat, we have bad news for you.
Over the last few months, there has been speculation that the one-time Pro Bowler could look to find his way out of the messy situation that the Cardinals have put themselves in. After a 3-14 season in 2025, they fired head coach Jonathan Gannon and moved on from Kyler Murray this offseason. While they hired Mike LaFleur to replace Gannon, expectations are very low for Arizona in 2026.
That is certainly not what Sweat expected when he signed a four-year, $76.4 million deal with the team in free agency a year ago. Especially after a memorable seven-year run with the Philadelphia Eagles that included a Super Bowl win last year.

When Sweat was not in attendance for the team’s recent OTAs, the rumor mill fired up again with new claims that a trade could happen and that the Packers were a likely destination. However, on Wednesday, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport completely shut down the speculation.
“This has gained some steam on social media, so just to provide some clarity: Cardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat is not being traded. Not to the Packers or anywhere. Carry on…” he wrote in a post on X.
Although he didn’t earn Pro Bowl honors, Sweat posted a career high 12 sacks in 2025, along with 17 QB hits, 30 tackles, and four forced fumbles.
