Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is typically as unassuming as they get. He rarely shows a lot of emotion on the field.
That was not the case in the first half of Monday night’s road date with the New York Giants as the reigning NFL Comeback Player of the Year was about as hot as it gets.
It came after Giants linebacker Isaiah Simmons pulled Smith down from behind after the quarterback actually completed a pass to himself. It came on the sideline and caused Smith to land awkwardly on the turf inside MetLife Stadium.

Giants safety Xavier McKinney had words for Smith as the quarterback came on the field after limping off. Smith was having none of it, getting into it with nearly the entire Giants defense.
Cooler heads ultimately prevailed.
However, the limp Geno Smith showed after the tackle is something to watch for the remainder of the game. It likely had something to do with his frustration. He was seen in the medical tent after the possession. Drew Lock came in for the QB1.
Both teams find themselves in near must-win mode during this somewhat early stage in the season. Seattle is looking to keep pace with the undefeated San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West and move to 3-1. The Giants don’t want to fall to 1-3 with games coming up against the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.
We will have further updates on Smith’s injury as they become available.
