The Pittsburgh Steelers are in Michigan at Ford Field on Sunday, facing the Detroit Lions in a pivotal game with playoff implications for both teams. With just two games left to play after this, both teams, which sit at 8-6, need a win. Unfortunately, DK Metcalf just reduced the Steelers’ chances of reaching the playoffs.

That’s because Metcalf was captured on the CBS Sports cameras speaking closely with a fan in the front row of the stands. It didn’t take long for Metcalf to turn the conversation physical, taking a swipe at the fan in the stands.

As Adam Schefter notes, the NFL will be reviewing this incident and determining whether Metcalf will face any type of discipline from the league. The referees apparently didn’t notice the altercation in real time, and the Steelers were not penalized for Metcalf’s act. Yet, that doesn’t mean a suspension won’t be coming his way.

It was a shocking sight in what otherwise appeared to be an innocent conversation. Obviously, something was said, and it quickly turned ugly enough for Metcalf to attack the spectator.

CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson said the fan was initially sporting some memorabilia that made it seem like he was a Steelers fan. Yet, when cameras panned to him, he was wearing Lions gear.

Is it possible the fan said something offensive? Anyone who’s ever attended a sports game knows that the answer is likely yes. Does that make it okay for Metcalf to react the way he did? Of course not.
