Two weeks ago, the Cleveland Browns revealed a frightening injury to their starting tight end David Njoku, who suffered burns to his face and arm after a backyard bonfire got out of control. Amazingly, Njoku was only listed as questionable, and he did end up playing, leading the Browns in receiving yards in Cleveland’s loss.

As if his performance wasn’t already inspiring enough, Njoku took things to another level over Cleveland’s bye week.

After receiving multiple messages from fellow burn victims, and nurses who have helped with the recovery of others, Njoku decided it was time to reveal his wounds to the world.

Here’s more from Njoku on his decision.

“I’ve been getting a lot of messages from other burn victims and nurses that have burn victims, and they were telling me how everybody feels embarrassed to show whatever. So I wanted just to come forth and show myself so everyone feels a bit better about themselves. End of the day, things heal.”

The former first-round pick is in his seventh NFL season, and as much of an impact he makes on the field for the Browns, he likely just inspired a new legion of fans simply because of a life-changing experience.
