Jerry Jones has never been afraid to swing a big deal. The Dallas Cowboys have proven that time and time again. Whether it’s a record-setting contract extension or trading their best player a week before the season began, the Cowboys aren’t afraid to be bold.

Yet, the Cowboys are still looking to replace the pass-rushing production that Micah Parsons became known for. That could change this offseason. Apparently, the Cowboys already tried.

According to ESPN’s Trey Wingo, the Cowboys “thought” they completed a trade for Maxx Crosby last night. Yet, the Las Vegas Raiders backed out after receiving multiple other offers including first-round picks for the five-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher.

Wingo reports that now the Cowboys plan to pivot to signing Trey Hendrickson in free agency instead, where they won’t have to part with any draft compensation.

“Things are moving fast re Maxx Crosby. Last night Dallas thought they were close to a deal but since then other teams have raised the ante and potentially are offering the Raiders 2 1st round picks Expected Dallas to now shift their focus to Trey Hendrickson.”

If Wingo’s report is accurate, it means the Raiders really are not only open to trading Crosby, but they could be close to pulling off a deal. Previous reports indicated that a Crosby trade could be conducted as soon as “this week.”

While the Cowboys appear to be out on Crosby, other teams are clearly willing to break the bank for the 28-year-old sack artist. The Raiders hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but a Crosby trade will likely land them another selection in the first round. Perhaps that pick can be an attempt to replace Crosby.
