A new report on an upcoming meeting between the Dallas Cowboys and a top NFL Draft prospect seems to open the door for a trade up in Round 1 of next month’s event.

After a frustrating 7-9-1 finish to the 2025 season, the Cowboys will look to further improve their roster at April’s draft. While last season was ugly at times, the one pro of a down year is a premium pick next month, and Dallas will specifically be on the clock at 12th overall in Round 1. Furthermore, they also have the 20th pick after landing it in a trade last season.

Over the last few weeks, various mock drafts have linked them to LSU corner Mansoor Delane, Auburn EDGE Keldric Faulk, and Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman. Strong prospects, but not the best of the best in the 2026 class from college football. However, it seems the team may be contemplating going over a top-five level player in Round 1.

Dallas Cowboys interested in trading up for Sonny Styles?

During a Thursday appearance on Up and Adams, Ohio State star linebacker Sonny Styles revealed that of the teams he is set to meet with in the coming days, the Cowboys are one of them.

Styles was viewed as a potential top 10 pick earlier this year. However, his outstanding showing at the NFL Combine last month increased his stock considerably. Now, some mock drafts have him going as No. 2 to the New York Jets — a team Styles recently met with — and No. 3 to the Arizona Cardinals.

Trading up into one of those slots is always difficult. However, with this year having a weak quarterback class, both the Jets and Cardinals may be open to getting the Cowboys’ two first-rounders and adding two top 20 players in this year’s class. Since both teams need more roster help than Dallas does.

Styles is a fantastic athlete who could be a game-changer for Dallas in 2026 if they do want to move up and select him.
