This will be an important next few months for the Dallas Cowboys, and it seems that the organization is making the necessary adjustments to increase their chances of bolstering the roster in a major way this offseason.
After restructuring star receiver CeeDee Lamb’s contract last week, the Cowboys did the same with Dak Prescott on Wednesday. The quarterback’s restructured deal frees up another $36 million in cap space this spring. Bringing the team’s total available cash to $54. 3 million (via Over The Cap).
With a boatload of extra dinero to make some big moves this offseason, we look at seven impact veterans Dallas could target in the next few weeks.
Stefon Diggs

Before last season, Stefon Diggs was viewed as one of the best wide receivers in the sport. However, eight lackluster games with the Texans and an ACL tear have significantly damaged his value in 2025. Dallas needs to get Prescott more weapons on offense. Diggs won’t come cheap, but a one-year prove-it deal could benefit both sides next season.
Kristian Fulton

The Dallas Cowboys need to add more impact pieces to their secondary. But they are unlikely to spend at the high end of the free agent market. That is why Titans and Chargers veteran Kristian Fulton would be an interesting option. When healthy, he has proven to be an above average NFL corner. And he showed that during a strong season in LA last year. Fulton is a player the ‘Boys should throw some of their free cap space at this offseason.

Will Fries

The Cowboys have massive shoes to fill at guard following the retirement of future Hall-of-Famer Zach Martin. The best guard on this year’s market is Indianapolis Colts veteran Will Fries. He lost most of the 2024 season due to a broken tibia. However, the former seventh round pick has been a hidden gem in Indy and is likely to get a very good contract after an impressive showing in 2023.

Cooper Kupp

Dallas has an undisputed No. 1 receiver. However, they need more players in the passing game deserving of respect to take the focus off Lamb. Enter one-time Super Bowl winner Cooper Kupp. The 2021 Pro Bowler is no longer a WR1, but he wouldn’t need to be with the Cowboys. While injury woes are a serious concern, he showed in 2024 when on the field he is still a major threat in the pass game.
Aaron Jones

Undrafted free agent Rico Dowdle had a breakout season for Dallas in 2024. The front office should make every effort possible to bring him back. However, whether they do or not, they could use more depth. And eight-year veteran Aaron Jones should be considered. At 30, his best days are probably behind him. But he is still an impact player after rushing for 1,138 yards in 2024. A Jones and Dowdle combo could be formidable next season.

Mekhi Becton

The Cowboys could have a lot of competition for Will Fries in the open market. That is why they must have backup options. Two years ago, Mekhi Becton seemed like a classic draft bust. However, after a change of scenery and position in 2024, he was a great addition to a dominant Eagles rushing attack this past season. While he won’t come cheap, he will be more affordable than Fries and addresses a major need this offseason.

Javon Hargrave

After being limited to just three games in 2024, Javon Hargrave will be a surprise cap casualty for the 49ers this year. The two-time Pro Bowler is expected to be fully recovered from his tricep tear and available after June 1. The nine-year vet would be a great addition to the Dallas front seven and give them more serious pass rush threats in 2025.
