New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll is adding fuel to the fire over A.J. Brown’s issues with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Through the first five weeks of the season, Brown has just 19 receptions for 194 yards and one touchdown on 36 targets. He has one game with over 100 receiving yards and in two contests, he had eight receiving yards or less.

Following the Eagles’ Week 4 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he had two catches for seven yards, Brown posted a cryptic biblical verse on social media.

“If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way,” it read.

The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane reported that the post was “pointed at someone or someones internally with the Eagles,” but Brown would later tell reporters that it wasn’t directed at head coach Nick Sirianni, offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo or quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Daboll Takes a Shot at Eagles

Going into Thursday night’s Eagles-Giants game, Daboll looked to stir the pot by saying that “A.J.’s open a lot.”

“When you watch him when he’s out there, [Brown] gets open. Big, strong, fast. Has good hands. Can run any route you want him to run. I’m sure they can throw him the ball as many times as they want,” said Daboll.

“You have to watch the tape. A.J.’s open a lot. Give it to Saquon [Barkley], he’s got productive yards. You run a zone read or throw it to [DeVonta Smith], there’s another thing. There’s a lot of weapons, I would say, on that offense and whatever they choose to do is what they do.”

Earlier in the week, Hurts, Barkley and Brown held a private meeting to discuss how to get the offense back on track that ranks 30th in total yards, 31st in passing and 25th in rushing yards per game.

If they’re unable to break through against a 1-4 Giants team, the Eagles will have many more questions to answer.
