Coming out of the University of Tennessee in the 2013 NFL Draft, most knew wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson was an electrifying talent with the ball in his hands. It was also known that he needed to work on his craft, but he had tantalizing potential.

An elite return man at Tennessee, he was used as a pure offensive weapon and took snaps all over the field. The Minnesota Vikings loved his game and traded up with the New England Patriots to draft Patterson 29th overall.

He struggled early in his career to even make it on the field for Minnesota. But fast forward a few years and Patterson is in the midst of a record breaking career in only his fourth season.

Following a 104-yard kick return for a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals (watch here), Patterson had just done something that no other player in NFL History had done to date.

Given the long history of electric return men in the NFL, from Deion Sanders to Devin Hester to Jacoby Jones, Patterson stands alone with FOUR 100-plus yard returns for touchdown, including a 109-yard return in 2013 that tied an NFL record for longest scoring play in NFL History.

While Patterson may never develop into the elite receiver many had hoped for coming out of college, he has etched his name in the record books. We look forward to watching him continue his special teams dominance for many years to come.
