A new rumor suggests the Indianapolis Colts will be very aggressive in pursuit of a specific defensive star this offseason.
The IND Colts were one of the best stories in the NFL last season until they weren’t. Expectations were not high for them heading into the 2025 campaign. Especially when they felt New York Giants draft bust Daniel Jones was their best option at quarterback. Yet, over the first 10 weeks of the season, they emerged as a Super Bowl contender.
Jones played like an MVP candidate in leading a dominant offense that featured Jonathan Taylor returning to his elite form. That is why they took the bold step of getting their defense more in line with their O, and traded not one but two future first-round picks for New York Jets star cornerback Sauce Gardner before the NFL trade deadline.
Unfortunately, when it was revealed in November that Jones had a broken left fibula, their seasons started to quickly unravel. The QB tried to play through the injury, but he was a shell of himself. Eventually tearing his Achilles tendon a few weeks later as the IND Colts ended the year losing eight of their last nine games.
Yet, despite the second-half collapse, there is renewed hope in Indianapolis, and belief that they can get back to the playoffs next season. While re-signing Jones is seen as a priority, a new report reveals that improving their defense further will be a top goal this offseason. And they have a specific player in mind to help do that.
IND Colts and Trey Hendrickson a perfect fit this offseason?

According to the NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the IND Colts are a team to “keep an eye on” in the Trey Hendrickson free agent market. The NFL insider claims Indy wants to be “aggressive” in free agency next month.
He also explained a major reason why Hendrickson and the IND Colts make sense for each other this offseason. Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo had the same role in Cincinnati for six seasons before taking the Indy job in 2025. Those years included overseeing Hendrickson’s rise to become one of the league’s best pass rushers.
Furthermore, the team also hired a new defensive line coach who also worked with Hendrickson in Cincinnati. So if the IND Colts are willing to pay what he is looking for, the four-time Pro Bowler is well aware that he will perform at his best under Anarumo in Indy.
