Once the Atlanta Falcons decided to move on from head coach Raheem Morris, it didn’t take them long to decide on their next leader. Last time they had a defensive-minded head coach, by hiring Kevin Stefanski, the Falcons now have a bright offensive mind and a two-time NFL Coach of the Year winner.
Now it’s time to fill out the rest of Stefanski’s coaching staff, and they may be getting a significant boost.
According to the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Falcons are “likely” to hire coaching legend Bill Callahan to be Atlanta’s offensive line coach. Callahan is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s best offensive line coaches.
He previously served under Stefanski as a member of the Cleveland Browns from 2020 to 2023. Though once his son, Brian, landed the Tennessee Titans’ head coaching job, Bill understandably left to be part of his son’s coaching staff instead.
Having spent the past two seasons in Tennessee, Callahan now needs a new job after his son got fired from the Titans. While Brian is still seeking a new opportunity too, Bill seems to have had no trouble finding a strong opportunity with the Titans.
With 20 seasons of experience working strictly as an offensive line coach, Callahan is a wonderful hire for Atlanta. Getting a great offensive line coach is a big part of the puzzle. Now the Falcons have to figure out who they’ll get to be their next defensive coordinator, and a lot more.
