Last season, Jalen Hurts helped lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a 14-3 record that ended on the highest note possible, by celebrating a Super Bowl. After the Eagles won, they watched offensive coordinator Kellen Moore accept a promotion to head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Now, as the Eagles are looking to repeat as champions, they’ve faced a lot of adversity along the way. Hurts and new Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo have taken a lot of criticism for an offense that now ranks 19th in scoring.

Many have suggested that the Eagles should have made a change at offensive coordinator long ago, like when they lost two games in a row from Weeks 5-6. Now that the Eagles have lost three games in a row, others believe maybe it’s time that Hurts gets benched, especially after throwing a career-high four interceptions in Monday’s loss.

On Wednesday morning, when Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni appeared on Philadelphia sports radio station WIP, he was asked whether he was now considering benching his starting quarterback. Yet, Sirianni shot the idea down immediately.

“No. I think that’s ridiculous,” Sirianni said. “I know every time I go out in that field with Jalen Hurts as our quarterback, we have a chance to win the game.”

Being that Hurts has a regular season win-loss record of 54-25, Sirianni’s not wrong when saying his quarterback has typically been a winner in the NFL. Yet, as of late, many would argue that Philadelphia has been winning in spite of Hurts’ poor play.
