When the calendar turned from May to June, the trade everyone around the NFL was keeping their eyes on was A.J. Brown being shipped from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New England Patriots. While that trade did finally get done, not before the Cleveland Browns shockingly traded Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams first.
The price wasn’t low. The Browns managed to get a rising star pass-rusher in Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, plus a 2029 third-round pick. Yet, there’s one way that the Browns could still acquire another first-round pick from the Garrett trade.

Recently, Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reported that there are additional conditions on the 2029 third-round pick.
For some reason, if the Rams were to turn around and trade Garrett to the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, or Pittsburgh Steelers — any team in the AFC North, then that ’29 third-round pick gets upgraded to a first-round pick.
Of course, the Rams are aware of these conditions too. In other words, there is absolutely no chance that the Rams ship the Defensive Player of the Year back to the AFC North.
While the Rams’ Super Bowl window is directly tied to the longevity of 38-year-old Matthew Stafford, we don’t see any scenario that involves Garrett being traded again anytime soon.
