Todd Monken has been hired as the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Now it’s time to find him a new starting quarterback.

The Browns have three internal options: Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel. Yet, the next starting QB of the Browns may not even be on the roster.

Recently, Jason La Canfora of Sports Boom suggested that the “favorite landing spot” for Green Bay Packers pending free agent Malik Willis is with the Browns. He also suggested that the Dolphins and Steelers could have an interest in Willis too.

“Green Bay backup Malik Willis is set to become a highly sought-after starting quarterback in the offseason. Teams including the Steelers, Browns, and Dolphins are interested. Speculation suggests a deal similar to Justin Fields’ could be on the cards. Favorite landing spot is the Cleveland Browns. His impressive performance against the Ravens caught the attention of several teams.”

Sports Boom on Malik Willis

The 26-year-old was a third-round pick by the Titans during the 2022 NFL Draft. The Titans moved on after just two seasons. Selecting Will Levis in the second round didn’t help. Now, Levis may be on the outs too, since Cam Ward is Tennessee’s future QB.

Meanwhile, Fields signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets last offseason. That gamble didn’t pay off for the Jets, but it doesn’t mean that Willis couldn’t become the next star QB for another team.

Willis impressed during the past two seasons with the Packers, including a start against the Ravens where he completed 18-of-21 passes for 288 yards and a touchdown. He also ran four 60 yards and two rushing scores. Now, several teams are curious to see what else Willis is capable of.
