NFL fans are ravaging Kansas City Chiefs great Chris Jones on Tuesday morning after a video emerged of him quiet quitting during a decisive play late in their Monday night loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Late in a very competitive matchup against the Jags on Monday Night Football, the Chiefs drove down the field and were able to take a 28-24 lead. They seemed primed to secure an important road win if their defense could do its job and hold onto the lead.

Unfortunately, with a little luck and some key penalties, Jacksonville was able to put together its own lengthy drive, and that culminated in a one-yard touchdown run for Trevor Lawrence. However, the TD did not occur without some really good fortune for the Jags because the QB fell twice before he was able to rumble into the end zone and give his team the lead.

Yet, Lawrence and the Jags seemingly got some extra help from KC’s top player on defense. On the touchdown scoring play, after the snap, popular Instagram account Chiefs Zone noticed six-time Pro Bowler Chris Jones did not rush and surprisingly dropped into coverage. However, his effort was lackadaisical.

And when the play fell apart and Lawrence had to scramble, Jones going after him could have possibly made a huge difference, and the score that eventually won the game may have never happened. But instead, Jones just stood around and made no effort to affect a massive play.

Fans react to Chris Jones quiet quitting late in Chiefs loss

It was a stunning moment from not only one of Kansas City’s best players right now, but also one of their team captains. A case could be made that Jones was either hurt or just gassed. However, if that was the case, he needs to get off the field and let fresh legs get into the game.

The moment opens the door to more speculation about how locked in Chiefs players are during a season where they fell to 2-3 after Monday night.

Unsurprisingly, the moment has gone viral on social media and has gotten a lot of opinions from NFL, Kansas City Chiefs, and Jacksonville Jaguars fans in the hours since. Below, you can get a look at some of the best fan reactions to Chris Jones quiet quitting in the fourth quarter.
