On Saturday, the Carolina Panthers kick off their first playoff run since 2017, when Ron Rivera was still the coach and Cam Newton quarterbacked the team. Now it’s Dave Canales and Bryce Young’s show in Carolina, but some changes are coming to the active roster.
On Tuesday, the Panthers announced a small series of roster changes. Specifically, the Panthers have activated wide receiver David Moore from injured reserve. He’d been out since Week 4 with an elbow injury.
Meanwhile, the Panthers have released receiver Hunter Renfrow from the active roster. Renfrow, a one-time Pro Bowl player, has recorded 15 catches for 89 yards after spending the 2024 season out of football. But he’s been inactive for the past 11 games.
Those aren’t the only changes Carolina made to the roster on Tuesday.
The Panthers also released safety Demani Richardson, but his spot on the roster has not yet been filled. Some speculation suggests the Panthers could be ready to activate offensive guard Robert Hunt, whom the team signed to a five-year, $100 million contract in March of 2024.
Carolina will need all the help they can get on Saturday, taking on a Rams team that won four more games than the Panthers did this season. Perhaps getting Moore and possibly Hunt back in action will help.
