Some teams are cutting costs this time of year. The Carolina Panthers haven’t felt compelled to move on from any of their higher-priced veterans. But changes could be on the way to help carve out more than the roughly $10 million in cap space they’re projected to have.

Once free agency kicks off, the Panthers could become active as they look to improve the roster. That could include adding a Pro Bowl player into the mix.

On Tuesday, Panthers general manager Dan Morgan was speaking to the media at the NFL Combine. While doing so, he revealed that the team is “exploring” whether to sign two-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Bradley Chubb, who was recently released by the Dolphins.

“I don’t think anything is going to be off the table,” Morgan said. “We’ll explore that, we’ll talk to his agent, but I wouldn’t say anything’s upcoming, but we’ll definitely stay on that, and we’ll see where that goes.”

Morgan said that the 29-year-old Chubb is “still playing at a really good level.”

Chubb started all 17 games for the Dolphins last season, recording 8.5 sacks in the process. It was a strong performance, considering he missed the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL after recording 11 sacks in 2023. Chubb recorded a career-high 12 sacks as a rookie, and he’s been trying to get back to that peak ever since.

After five seasons in Denver and three in Miami, Chubb’s next chapter will likely lead him back to another contender as he’s appeared in just one playoff game since arriving as the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
