The Buffalo Bills seemingly come close to reaching the Super Bowl each year, especially since Josh Allen emerged as a Pro Bowl quarterback in 2020. Yet, failing to accomplish their goals led to the somewhat surprising dismissal of Sean McDermott.

Now that the Bills have a new head coach in Joe Brady, expect some shakeup, even if he was already an existing member of the team. With free agency right around the corner, the Bills may be preparing to say goodbye to some members of their core.

That could include one-time Pro Bowl center/guard Connor McGovern, who’s set for free agency after three seasons in Buffalo.

The 28-year-old recently told The Athletic‘s Tim Graham that he wants to return to Buffalo. Yet, he also hasn’t heard a single peep from the team. Because of the lack of contact, McGovern’s “gut” tells him he won’t be asked to come back for a fourth season with the Bills.

“They haven’t contacted me once,” McGovern said. “In my gut, that says it’s over and done.”

If the Bills really are ready to let McGovern test free agency, we’d imagine he’ll have a fairly healthy market considering he’s started all 49 games he’s appeared in since signing in Buffalo. Prior to joining the Bills, McGovern spent three seasons with the Cowboys where he started 29 of his 45 appearances.

As a player with positional versatility capable of playing guard or center, McGovern shouldn’t have any trouble landing with another contender, if that’s what he wants.
