Browns receiver Ricardo Louis

The 2018 NFL season ended before it ever began for Cleveland Browns receiver Ricardo Louis, who is out for the year with a neck injury.

Browns head coach Hue Jackson made this announcement on Wednesday ahead of training camp practices.

Wednesday’s announcement was the first anyone outside the organization had heard about it. Jackson explained a bit later that Lewis had offseason surgery after the injury hadn’t healed as the team hoped.

Louis was set to enter his third season as a pro. A former fourth-round pick out of Auburn in 2016, the 24-year-old receiver has caught 45 passes for 562 yards in his first two seasons with the Browns.
