The circle of despair continues to spin in Cleveland as quarterback Cody Kessler suffered another concussion, forcing the Browns to ride with Josh McCown as their starting quarterback this upcoming weekend.

Kessler, a rookie from USC who has performed quite well when healthy, has suffered his second concussion of the year.

This is cause for concern in the Cleveland Browns front office. The Browns  jettisoned key players on the offensive line while failing to adequately address the position through free agency and the draft. It hasn’t been a positive development for any player starting at the quarterback position in Cleveland.

That said, the players that are there have played poorly, which is something that caused Terrelle Pryor to call out the offensive line after Kessler’s second concussion (more on that here).

The Browns have had six different players throw a pass this season, including notable names such as Kevin Hogan and Charlie Whitehurst.

McCown and Kessler have been the steadiest so far, but both have suffered a multitude of injuries behind a patchwork line that has one player of value on it — left tackle Joe Thomas.

With a matchup looming against a vicious Buffalo Bills front seven, one can only hope we don’t see McCown suffer a season-ending injury this Sunday.

At some point you can’t even laugh at Cleveland anymore, you just begin to feel sad for the team and players. Hue Jackson is absolutely the right coach for that team, but with the dearth of talent he has to work with, it may be some time before we see the Browns outside of the top-10 picks in the NFL draft.
