With the San Francisco 49ers signing Mike Evans, parting ways with Brandon Aiyuk was imminent. Aiyuk is no stranger to the business side of the NFL, and he learned more about it on Wednesday when it was reported he will soon be cut by the only team he’s ever played for.

The star wide receiver was already linked to the Washington Commanders following the news of his release. Now that he is officially on the market, many teams will want to get the Super Bowl toughened target on their squad. With that in mind, let’s break down five likely landing spots for Aiyuk in free agency.

The Washington Commanders have made it clear that they want Aiyuk on their roster. Pronto. And they’re leaving no stone unturned to make sure they get him in their facility. Aiyuk’s close relationship with Commanders’ QB1 Jayden Daniels has been reported as a driving point of the Washington speculation. The Commanders’ general manager, Adam Peters, knows the player well and praised him at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Aiyuk is more inclined to end up in Washington than anywhere else.

Las Vegas Raiders

We’re three days into free agency, and the Las Vegas Raiders already had a trade gone awry. The Raiders have had some issues in the locker room over the last couple of years, including an entire team allegedly calling out their head coach. They want a Lombardi, and they want it now. Yes, they just signed Jalen Nailor, but that is no reassurance that they have top notch WR.

The Raiders have a clear need for a veteran WR. The Raiders are undergoing a reset that could involve a rookie quarterback. Aiyuk has played in two Super Bowls with the 49ers and would give expected QB1 Fernando Mendoza a legit WR1 in his rookie season.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans‘ receiver group has been widely viewed as a weakness in recent seasons, and analysts believe the team still needs more high-end talent at the position. While the Titans recently signed Wan’Dale Robinson, he profiles more as a slot receiver and possession target rather than a dominant outside WR1.

Having a receiver who can consistently win routes gives a young QB a reliable first read and safety valve, accelerating offensive development. Aiyuk can operate as the primary outside receiver and would immediately become the most accomplished wideout on the roster. Aiyuk’s versatility would allow the Titans’ offensive staff to build a more dynamic passing scheme around him.

New York Jets

The New York Jets are going for a revamp. That’s clear. They currently rely heavily on Garrett Wilson as their primary receiver, but the depth behind him has been inconsistent. Aiyuk creates a dangerous two-receiver tandem with Garrett Wilson, forcing defenses to spread coverage, and instantly gives the Jets a high-level WR2 or co-WR1. For a Jets offense that has struggled to generate explosive passing plays, Aiyuk could become the deep-threat and yards-after-catch weapon they need.

Kansas City Chiefs

Since trading Tyreek Hill in 2022, Kansas City has struggled to consistently replace his production with a single dominant receiver. Analysts have repeatedly pointed out that the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver room remains a problem entering 2026.

Aiyuk’s skill set aligns well with the style of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Aiyuk averaged 17.9 yards per reception during his 2023 breakout season, demonstrating elite vertical and explosive ability. Mahomes thrives with receivers who can win quickly off the line, adjust routes during broken plays, and stretch the field vertically. And Aiyuk’s play style fits those traits perfectly.
