Bill Belichick is not a first ballot Hall of Famer. It still seems absurd to say out loud. Bill Belichick, he who has eight Super Bowl rings, one for each finger, sans thumbs, is not a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

The legendary NFL coach finally addressed his exclusion from the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 during a recent interview on Sean Hannity’s podcast.

Voters Deliver Stunning Snub to Greatest Coach of All Time

In January, the eight-time world champion failed to secure the required 80% of votes from the 50-member selection committee, eliciting widespread shock and criticism across the football world.

Belichick, now head coach at the University of North Carolina, remained characteristically stoic, telling Hannity the decision was “out of my control.” Instead, he’s staying focused on his current players and program.

“Well, out of my control,” he explained. “Honestly, I’ve been very focused on my job at the University of North Carolina and the players, and the university there. So, you know, whatever happens, happens.”

“I’m proud of what we accomplished as a team at New England and certainly at the Giants and proud of those relationships, so that’s what matters most.”

Belichick Hall of Fame Snub Sparks Political Firestorm

Fair enough, but come on. Let’s be real. The hoodie has to be absolutely and understandably livid.

The ridiculous stunt by voters is widely considered a response to Spygate or Deflategate. Obviously, Belichick’s eventual induction is inevitable given his dominance. This was just a dumb ploy by the voters to make a statement. Reporters, who, by the way, should have their votes taken away and never be associated with Canton, Ohio, ever again.

They should be shunned in polite company. From now until the end of time.

When directly asked whether politics played a role in the snub, Belichick deferred to the voters, saying, “You have to ask the voters. I didn’t have a say in it.”

He expressed appreciation for the outpouring of support from figures like Tom Brady and President Trump. The latter of which called the decision “ridiculous” and suggested it should be overturned.

Brady, who played under Belichick for two decades, echoed the sentiment, stating that if his former coach isn’t a first-ballot Hall of Famer, then “there’s really no coach that should ever be.”
