Free agency has yet to begin, yet there’s already been some chatter involving the Baltimore Ravens. One of their best players is set for free agency, where he’s among the top free agents on the market. That’s IF he even makes it.

The Ravens would like to get Tyler Linderbaum, who’s poised for free agency, under contract for multiple seasons. Though, they avoided the franchise tag. Unless the Ravens and Linderbaum can come to an agreement on a contract extension before March 9, he’ll be allowed to test the open market, where salaries are often inflated.

According to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the Ravens are willing to make Linderbaum the highest-paid center in NFL history. Yet, if he reaches the open market, Zrebiec believes Linderbaum is “as good as gone.”

“If Linderbaum gets to the open market, he’s probably as good as gone,” Zrebiec wrote. “Word out of Indianapolis last week is that a handful of teams are primed to present him with a blank check. The Ravens are willing to make Linderbaum the league’s highest-paid center, but are they prepared to go over $22 million per year to keep him?”

Linderbaum is viewed as one of the best free agents available. If the Ravens aren’t willing to meet his asking price, other teams surely will.
