Adam Schefter was right again.

ESPN’s NFL insider previously tried to warn the public that the Baltimore Ravens were far more likely to move on from John Harbaugh than the Pittsburgh Steelers were to part ways with Mike Tomlin.

On Tuesday, the Ravens officially fired Harbaugh after 18 seasons as their head coach.

Harbaugh had three more years left on his contract with the Ravens, who will now be searching for a new head coach. Meanwhile, Harbaugh undoubtedly instantly becomes the top coaching candidate on the market.

After all, how many former Super Bowl winners become available each offseason? Pete Carroll is one, but he’s also 74 years old and coming off the worst season of his NFL coaching career.

Several teams will likely try lining up interviews with Harbaugh over the next few days. NFL insider Jordan Schultz indicates that the New York Giants are one team to watch closely.

Harbaugh ends his Ravens career with an impressive 180-113 record, including 13-11 in postseason play. Yet, after the Ravens went just 8-9 and missed the playoffs, Baltimore decided it was time to move on.

Harbaugh goes down as the winningest coach in Ravens history, both in victory total and win-rate. His 180 wins rank 14th in NFL history. That type of resume will generate a lot of interest.

As for who could take over in Baltimore? Some are already speculating that Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter could emerge as a prime candidate. The 42-year-old is viewed as a rising star in the coaching industry after helping the Chargers rank first and ninth in points allowed across the past two seasons.
