The Atlanta Falcons‘ quarterback room may already be set. First, they signed left-handed QB Tua Tagovailoa. The former Pro Bowler is expected to either start until fellow lefty Michael Penix Jr. is fully recovered from his torn ACL, or possibly replace the 2024 first-round pick altogether. While it’s clear who Atlanta’s top two quarterbacks are, now another arm has joined the fray.
On Tuesday, the Falcons signed 34-year-old backup QB Trevor Siemian. He’ll undoubtedly be the Falcons’ third-string QB behind Tagovailoa and Penix.
Siemian was the 250th selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. Considering 249 players were chosen before him, the seventh-round pick has carved out a nice career.
After winning a Super Bowl as a rookie on Peyton Manning’s Broncos, Siemian has gone on to make 40 appearances and 33 starts. He’s appeared in a game for seven different teams. Yet, the Falcons are the 10th team Siemian has joined.
However, he reunited with Kevin Stefanski in Atlanta, with whom he had worked on the Vikings in 2018. While it’s been a long time, Siemian should have a much shorter learning curve when it comes to mastering the offense. With just five selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Falcons may already have their QB room finalized, but there’s always the possibility that they’ll add another camp arm while Penix’s rehab continues.
