Entering the 2026 NFL season, many expect the Arizona Cardinals to be one of the worst teams in football. Not having a defined starting quarterback doesn’t help.
Jacoby Brissett, the team’s presumed starter, recently skipped minicamp in search of a pay raise. The Cardinals have so far stood their ground, meaning Brissett’s $9.1 million cap hit may stay intact for the 2026 season, the final year of his contract.
The Cardinals also signed Gardner Minshew, who is expected to be Brissett’s backup. However, the Cardinals have also drafted Miami (FL)’s Carson Beck in the third round. They also have former undrafted free agent signee Kedon Slovis.
Yet, the Cardinals may not be completely content with their QB room. Some, including the team’s players, may still be hoping to see another addition at QB.
Recently, Cardinals wide receiver Kendrick Bourne took to social media to recruit future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers to Arizona for the upcoming season.
“@AaronRodgers Come on we waiting on you.”
Bourne ended the post with the eyes emoji and a smiley face. Whether that means he’s joking is unknown.
Yet, it’s not hard to imagine that Bourne is/was legitimately trying to recruit Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, to the Cardinals. The issue is, would Rodgers really want to join a team that seems firmly set for a rebuilding season? Not even signing Rodgers may fix the Cardinals in 2026.
