Four NFL teams have already hired new head coaches. But the Arizona Cardinals are still working through their interview process.

They’ve registered interest in several intriguing candidates. They include:

  • Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur
  • Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula
  • Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris
  • Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith
  • Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter
  • Houston Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke
  • Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy
  • New England Patriots pass game coordinator Thomas Brown
  • Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak
  • Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver
  • Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph
  • Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley (Hired as Miami Dolphins HC)
  • San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh (Hired as Tennessee Titans HC)

Of those coaches, the Cardinals have actually interviewed LaFleur, Minter, and Morris. They also interviewed Hafley and Saleh before they were hired elsewhere.

Now, the Cardinals are adding another intriguing interview into the mix.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Cardinals are interviewing Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady for their head coaching vacancy on Tuesday. It will be their first time speaking to Brady, but he’s also interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders and Atlanta Falcons (before they hired Kevin Stefanski). Brady is also set for a second interview with the Baltimore Ravens later this week.

As for Brady? He’s a brilliant offensive mind who’s been through the gamut, taking steps forward and backward in his career. He was thrust into the spotlight in 2019 as LSU’s pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach. That team not only won the College Football National Championship, but it also had Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, and Ja’Marr Chase.

Brady then landed the Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator position from 2020 to 2021 before getting fired. Yet, he landed on his feet by becoming the Bills’ QB coach from 2022 to 2023. Once Ken Dorsey was fired, the Bills made Brady their interim offensive coordinator, and they loved what he did with his new duties. Brady was promoted to full-time offensive coordinator in 2024, and he’s held the job since.

Though with Sean McDermott being let go, Brady is now free to find a new job, and he could be in line for another promotion. If hired, Brady would become the youngest active head coach in the NFL.
