Everything depends on what happens with Brown. If the Eagles don’t trade the superstar wide receiver, it makes other potential trades for the Patriots more realistic. However, if Philadelphia decides to move Brown, New England is the top suitor and makes other deals unlikely. The Patriots need a WR1, and Brown checks every single box.
George Pickens, WR, Dallas Cowboys
George Pickens will likely stay with the Dallas Cowboys; however, he is the next best option after Brown. Dallas placed the franchise tag of Pickens, but the drama and headache could entice the organization to maximize his value. If so, the Patriots could trade for Pickens, giving him the long-term contract extension he deserves.
Jonathan Greenard, LB, Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings have been listening to trade offers on Jonathan Greenard, and he would be an excellent fit in New England. In 2025, Greenard had three sacks in 12 games, but he had at least 12 sacks in the previous two years. The Vikings linebacker would elevate the Patriots defense going into next season, joining Jones as elite pass rushers.
Chris Olave, WR, New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are working on a long-term contract extension with Chris Olave; however, what if talks break down? Olave is set to become a free agent after the 2026-27 NFL season. If it becomes obvious that he won’t return to New Orleans, the organization could trade him to maximize his value like Dallas and Pickens. In this scenario, the Patriots should be on the phone.
Brian Thomas Jr., WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Brian Thomas Jr. is entering his third year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but lats season was not positive. Thomas struggled with injuries and wasn’t very productive with Trevor Lawrence at quarterback. If Jacksonville switches directions and decides to make the young wide receiver available, the Patriots could explore a potential trade before the NFL Draft.
