Who’s the NFL’s best quarterback? Who’s the NFL’s worst quarterback? We felt it was only fair to evaluate all 32 NFL starting quarterbacks based on their performance this season. That means the typical greats like Patrick Mahomes won’t rank No. 1, simply because he hasn’t been at his very best this year. Scroll down for the full 2025 NFL QB rankings, from 1-32.

1. Matthew Stafford

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams
Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images

He entered the season with concerns about his back, but Stafford is playing his best ball at 37 years old. Amazingly, Stafford has only earned Pro Bowl honors twice, but right now he’s playing like an MVP who’s set to earn his first All-Pro nod too. Leading the NFL in touchdowns and first downs while having the Rams competing for the NFC’s top seed, Stafford has been the NFL’s best quarterback.

2. Drake Maye

NFL: New York Jets at New England Patriots
David Butler II-Imagn Images

Still just 23 starts into his career, Maye is already performing as a top-five QB. He not only leads the NFL in passing yards and completion rate, he’s also somehow tops in adjusted yards gained per attempt. Maye has been efficient and dangerous, and he’s still just 23 years old.

3. Josh Allen

NFL

Allen won the MVP last season, but this year he’s on pace to have more passing yards and touchdowns. He also has more interceptions too. It’s not like he’s just focusing on dicing up defenses through the air either, Allen’s also on track to have more rushing yards and touchdowns too. He’ll earn All-Pro honors again, but will voters place him behind Drake Maye?

4. Daniel Jones

NFL: Berlin Game-Atlanta Falcons at Indianapolis Colts
Kirby Lee-Imagn Images

Few could have predicted that Danny Dimes would go from being cut in New York to an All-Pro candidate in Indianapolis in just one year. Yet, that’s exactly what we’ve seen transpire under coach Shane Steichen. Jones not only averages nearly a first down per pass attempt (8.3 YPA), but he’s also limiting mistakes and doing damage with his legs, as usual.

5. Justin Herbert

Syndication: Florida Times-Union
Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

Herbert has lost both starting offensive tackles while dealing with a backfield that’s become decimated by injuries, which makes his production even more impressive. Herbert enters Week 12 ranking second in passing yards, and he’s keeping defenders guessing by spreading the ball around. Four different Chargers pass-catchers have 500 or receiving yards, making this offense pretty unpredictable.

6. Patrick Mahomes

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images

While there are still some rocky moments, Mahomes is back to being one of the most productive QBs in the NFL. He hasn’t had a game with fewer than 250 passing yards since Week 3. However, Mahomes is also on track to have the lowest completion rate of his career.

7. Jared Goff

NFL: Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles
Bill Streicher-Imagn Images

Once again, Goff is back to being one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the NFC, producing 21 touchdowns to just four interceptions. Yet, he’s also coming off a dreadful performance that saw him complete just 37.8% of his passes.

8. Sam Darnold

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams
Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images

The Jets were way, way off about Sam Darnold. He’s gone from an NFL laughingstock to one that defenses don’t want to have to deal with. Of course, he’s coming off a season-high 4-INT performance, but otherwise, Darnold has been lights out this season.

9. Baker Mayfield

Syndication: Democrat and Chronicle
Tina MacIntyre-Yee/Democrat and Chronicle / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

Mayfield ranks among the league leaders for fewest interceptions thrown, and boasts an impressive TD to INT ratio of 17:3. What’s perhaps most impressive is that he’s helped the Buccaneers thrive without their top two weapons, but he’s been dominant when targeting rookie Emeka Egbuka.

10. Dak Prescott

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys
Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images

There’s no questioning whether he’ll return to top form. Prescott erased those concerns with a 361-yard game in Week 2. Even when he didn’t have CeeDee Lamb, Prescott was producing like an elite quarterback, thanks in large part to a strong connection with George Pickens. While the Cowboys’ defense has been atrocious, you can’t fault Prescott for the struggles in Dallas.

11. Bo Nix

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images

Oddly enough, Nix leads the NFL in passing attempts, yet he ranks ninth in yards. Though, he’s also leading the NFL with the best sack rate. He’s also led the NFL’s most game-winning drives this season, showing that he knows how to make the right play when it matters most.

12. Lamar Jackson

NFL: Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
Scott Galvin-Imagn Images

With the Ravens struggling to find wins, Jackson is nowhere near an MVP pace. He’s still holding down the NFL’s best touchdown rate, and interestingly, the best QB rating too. However, Jackson hasn’t topped 204 passing yards since Week 3, and he hasn’t gone over 50 rushing yards since Week 1.

13. Jordan Love

Syndication: The Record
Yannick Peterhans / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

Some weeks, Love looks like a top-five QB. Other times, he looks like he’s one of the worst. For the most part, Love is avoiding critical errors, leading a potent passing attack despite not having top-notch weapons after Tucker Kraft’s injury.

14. Jalen Hurts

NFL: Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles
Bill Streicher-Imagn Images

Six of the defending Super Bowl champs’ 10 starts have resulted in fewer than 200 passing yards. Amazingly, he’s only thrown one interception compared to 16 passing touchdowns, and he’s added six more scores as a rusher. But there’s too much inconsistency here to be in the top ten.

15. Brock Purdy

Syndication: Arizona Republic
Joe Rondone/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

Mac Jones has done most of the damage for the 49ers’ offense this season, often performing as a top-ten QB. Yet, Purdy is typically among the top 15 QBs when healthy, and he’s done nothing to lose that respect in limited action this season.

16. Aaron Rodgers

Syndication: The Enquirer
Sam Greene/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

The days of Rodgers putting up MVP numbers with multiple 300-yard games are long gone. But he’s shown he can still lead an efficient passing attack that focuses on getting the ball out quickly and excelling in short to intermediate areas of the field. He’s thrown a few more interceptions than we’ve grown accustomed to, but he’s also in a new offense with a different cast of playmakers.

17. C.J. Stroud

NFL: Denver Broncos at Houston Texans
Sean Thomas-Imagn Images

Playing behind an offensive line that ranks as one of the league’s worst, Stroud has a new career-high in completion percentage. Otherwise, there’s not much to write home about here. Davis Mills has replaced him due to injury in the past two weeks, and the former third-round pick has performed admirably in his stead.

18. Caleb Williams

NFL: Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings
Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images

The former No. 1 overall pick’s completion rate is nearly three percent lower than last season’s, but the Bears are actually winning this time around. It helps that Williams is no longer the NFL’s most sacked QB. He’s actually cut his sack rate by more than half, showing immense growth in Ben Johnson’s first season as Chicago’s head coach.

19. Trevor Lawrence

Syndication: Florida Times-Union
Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

The former No. 1 overall pick still hasn’t lived up to his potential of being a generational talent, but he’s getting more wins this season under Liam Coen than ever before. Lawrence is still turning the ball over too often for our liking, and we wouldn’t even be shocked if the Jaguars did evaluate their other QB options this offseason.

20. Tua Tagovailoa

NFL: Madrid Game-Washington Commanders at Miami Dolphins
Kirby Lee-Imagn Images

Leading the NFL with 13 interceptions, the Dolphins seem to be sticking with their franchise quarterback. Not just for this season, but possibly for next too. We’ve seen Tagovailoa be one of the NFL’s most accurate quarterbacks who’s capable of leading a high-powered offense, but Miami’s scoring attack is a mess right now.

21. Bryce Young

NFL: Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons
Brett Davis-Imagn Images

Coming off what was easily the best game of his career, Young’s rank is on the upswing. Though, we can’t get too excited about a QB who had previously just had one game with over 199 passing yards this season. At least this one happened recently, which provides some optimism in the second half of the year.

22. Joe Flacco

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images

Forced to learn two offenses this season, Flacco has done just about as well as anyone could have hoped for, considering he’s a 40-year-old QB. He’s given the Bengals what they asked for: a QB who will give his receivers chances to make plays downfield. Unfortunately, he’s also given defenses more opportunities to get their hands on the football too.

23. Jacoby Brissett

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals
Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images

With Kyler Murray performing as a bottom-tier QB, it was time for the Cardinals to consider a change, and the injury gave them the perfect excuse. Brissett has the NFL’s lowest interception rate in league history. He’s also coming off a record-setting game where he completed 47 passes. The Cardinals know what they’re going to get from the veteran, and he’s delivered even better than expected results.

24. Jaxson Dart

NFL: New York Giants at Chicago Bears
Mike Dinovo-Imagn Images

Already having lost his top pass-catcher and best running back, Dart is under a lot of pressure in New York. He’s tried to do too much at times, which has both won over a tough-love fanbase and provided plenty of long-term caution about his head injuries, but there’s potential here.

25. Michael Penix Jr.

NFL: Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons
Brett Davis-Imagn Images

Now he’s likely out for the rest of the season, but Penix was playing like a quarterback yet to establish himself as the starting solution in Atlanta. Already 25 years old with just 12 starts under his belt, Penix is headed into Year 3, and the Falcons haven’t seen anything that resembles a franchise QB yet.

26. Geno Smith

NFL: Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos
Isaiah J. Downing-Imagn Images

This is not what the Raiders had in mind when trading for a Pro Bowl QB and handing him a new contract. Unfortunately, the Raiders may be stuck with him at this point, but we fully expect Las Vegas to bring in some fairly stiff competition this offseason, whether it’s a rookie or a veteran with upside remains to be seen.

27. Marcus Mariota

NFL: Madrid Game-Washington Commanders at Miami Dolphins
Kirby Lee-Imagn Images

Mariota’s been forced to make five starts for Washington as Jayden Daniels deals with injuries. While there were some bright spots, he’s done nothing to earn a starting role again elsewhere. The latest example saw him throw a game-sealing interception, but the Commanders don’t have a better option.

28. Dillon Gabriel

Syndication: Akron Beacon Journal
Jeff Lange / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

Shedeur Sanders finally got a chance to show what he can do, and Browns fans caught a glimpse of why the coaching staff didn’t want to throw him to the dogs as a rookie. Dillon Gabriel hasn’t done much better, but he’s been far more efficient, even if he’s had just one game with over 200 passing yards this season.

29. Tyler Shough

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers
Bob Donnan-Imagn Images

He’s coming off his best game yet, but the Saints still don’t know what they have in their second-round rookie. We’ll get a far better idea over the second half of the season. For now, it’s all about seeing what he can and can’t do as the Saints’ evaluation process continues.

30. Cam Ward

Syndication: The Tennessean
Denny Simmons / The Tennessean / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images

With just as many interceptions as touchdowns, Ward hasn’t produced much magic considering his draft slot. He hasn’t had a single game where he hasn’t either fumbled or thrown an interception. Still just 23 years old, seeing who the Titans pair with the No. 1 overall pick this offseason will be paramount to his success.

31. J.J. McCarthy

NFL: Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings
Brad Rempel-Imagn Images

He’s had very limited action while missing his entire rookie season due to injury and dealing with yet another knee problem this year. Still just 22 years old, McCarthy has struggled immensely with touch, accuracy, and decision-making. It’s never good when Carson Wentz can look like a much better option, and had he not suffered a season-ending injury, the Vikings would have an interesting decision to make.

32. Justin Fields

NFL: New York Jets at New England Patriots
David Butler II-Imagn Images

There’s a reason the Jets benched Justin Fields for the second time this season. He’s more of a rusher than a passer, and he hasn’t even been running all that effectively this year. He’s had four starts with 54 or fewer passing yards, setting back the modern era by decades in the process.
