It was somewhat of a surprise that Mississippi receiver D.K. Metcalf fell completely out of the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Metcalf had a dazzling combine performance. And at 6-foot-3, he seems to be a physical marvel.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer we should not be surprised that Metcalf fell from the top-32 picks. In fact, some scouts around the NFL believe that he’s the second best draft-eligible Mississippi receiver behind A.J. Brown.
What’s interesting here is that Brown also failed to go in the first round. Each one of these receivers dominated elite-level SEC competition. However, both have their red flags.
In a draft that saw only two receivers go in the first round, that was enough for NFL teams to pass up on this duo of pass catchers Thursday night.
