NFL suspends Cowboys DE David Irving indefinitely

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys have not found themselves in the news for the right reasons this week.

Mere days after the NFL banned pass rusher Randy Gregory indefinitely, another member of the team’s defense has been suspended.

Impending free agent David Irving has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

This comes after the 25-year-old Irving was away from his team for the vast majority of last season due to personal issues. He was initially suspended to open the season after also violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

An undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in 2015, Irving put up seven sacks for Dallas two seasons ago.
