NFL players lend support to Alex Smith after gruesome injury

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

During the third quarter of Sunday’s game between the Washington Redskins and Houston Texans, quarterback Alex Smith suffered a gruesome leg injury.

It looked like his leg was snapped in half, much like what happened to Washington’s Joe Theismann 33 years ago.

After being examined by team doctors, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment.

Smith is one of the most well-liked and respected players out there, and his peers — both former and current — around the NFL were upset to see him go down like that.
