During the third quarter of Sunday’s game between the Washington Redskins and Houston Texans, quarterback Alex Smith suffered a gruesome leg injury.
It looked like his leg was snapped in half, much like what happened to Washington’s Joe Theismann 33 years ago.

Smith is one of the most well-liked and respected players out there, and his peers — both former and current — around the NFL were upset to see him go down like that.
Alex Smith is such a class act. Feel awful he got hurt today and especially in that manner. At his age, that’s going to be rough to rehab. Hope the best for him.
