Excluding the New England Patriots, there were seven NFL head coaching vacancies during this offseason’s hiring cycle. Somehow, Bill Belichick only interviewed for one of them.

The Atlanta Falcons decided to go in another direction, and they reportedly never even offered Belichick the job. Despite the disinterest in hiring Belichick this season, that doesn’t mean arguably the greatest coach in NFL history won’t be back in 2025.
Bill Belichick could be very popular head coaching candidate next offseason
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, multiple NFL owners have already reached out to Bill Belichick about his interest in coaching their team starting in 2025.

As mentioned in the video, Belichick is just 17 wins behind passing George Halas for second place on the NFL’s all-time wins list, and 27 wins behind Don Shula for first place. All indications are that Belichick, despite being 71, won’t rest until he has the record.
While Belichick won’t get a chance to add to those totals this year, expectations are that one of the teams who weren’t quite ready to hit the reset button this year may be ready to do so next offseason.
